i come at night, to kill the light Yasmin's eyes swept across the area, despite the dark still able to see just about any creature that was not hiding from her presence. The area was free, or so she thought, and so she landed, her wings bringing her feet back upon the steady ground. Her black wings remained opened for a while, as she took in her surroundings once more. Best to know in what area she found herself at exactly. Slowly, but certainly, she placed her wings back where they belonged, withdrawing them into her back once more. Her wings, black as the night, were features she could not bare loosing. They were too important to be left in the open.
She figured she could stay here for the night. Far away from water, which meant no animals searching for it would cross her path, it was an open space, hidden among some bushes and tall trees hovered over the open space, keeping the snow from falling too much onto the lovely area. Perfect, or so Yasmin was convinced, to house her own little self during this cold night. Despite the fact she wasn't really cold, since she was wearing her lovely piece of fur, Yasmin gathered some pieces of wood, making sure they were dry first, before starting a little fire in the midst of the area. Perhaps not too smart, since it could give away her hide-out, but a necessity in this bad weather.
A satisfied smile spread across her features as soon enough, the fire heated up and turned into a nice, big fire that was useful enough to keep her warm. Yasmin's smile disappeared in vain though as hunger tugged at her stomach, making her scan the area once more. Soon enough her eyes started to sparkle and a mischievous smirk spread across her lips, before she too rose, heading for one of the bushes. With the agility and perfection only a true predator could muster, her hand snatched out to the bushes and snatched a young rabbit out.
One could have sworn her eyes glinted in pleasure as she cracked the young rabbit's little neck. Yasmin believed that the world was harsh, a kill-or-be-killed world. And she'd much rather kill than be killed. So she returned to the fire, dead rabbit dangling in her hand before seating herself in front of the fire once again. After she had skinned the rabbit, and the former animal was currently roasting away on the fire, Yasmin seemed to be lost in thoughts, eyes fixed on her late night dinner. The scent of the little rabbit was luring her, but she knew to wait just a little while longer, until it was perfectly made.
Yasmin reached her hand up, tangling one of the strings of cloth around her finger. It wasn't long before she halted in her actions, alarmed. The siren was quite sure she had heard something, a snap of a twig or did it sound more like scoffing of a person? Or - well, she couldn't exactly tell what it had been, for that she had been spacing out far too much, but she knew someone was near. And yet again, Yasmin swiftly rose to her feet, scanning the area for any hints of life.
"I'd suggest you better come out," was the first thing she said... just to find out if it was person or beast.

K A T E ;;Kate wasn't sure how long she had been running. In fact, she wasn't much sure of anything... except for the bleak memories of leaving home. She remembered her mother handing her a satchel, her father telling her to get out and go as fast as she could. Kate had never been able to ride horses... and this proved to be a challenge when her brother Arthur pulled up with a steed and demanded she hop on the back. Somehow, numb, she wound up in his lap on top of a skittish mare, and then, perhaps a moment later, she was tumbling off of the mare and off of that lap.
She didn't know what had happened to Arthur when the horse took a tumble, it's hoof encased in mud, but she did know she had looked for him, and then taken off at the sound of men's voices. So, coated in mud and dirt with tears streamlining down her face, Kate pushed on into the woods and towards the Narnian border.
She didn't know where she was headed, or even why she had been tossed out of her home. But her father, the most level-headed man she knew, was in a panic, which implied some sort of danger. If Kate had had time to think about this logically, she might have placed the pieces together, but at the moment she was irrational and half crazed with fear and confusion.
The tears had stopped some time ago, but Kate still looked as if she belonged in a gutter rather then in a small palace for an Earl. Her dress was stained, which was a pity because it happened to be her favorite. She wasn't sure what her hair looked like, but Kate felt certain it was an atrocity. As she walked, for she was no longer running, she started to comb through it with her fingers. Small branches and leaves fell out like rain, and it took perhaps twenty minutes for Kate to be satisfied with her hair again.
And then darkness came.
Kate wasn't entirely scared of the black of night, but combined with the elements of the day, it wasn't a welcomed visitor. Every sound made in the woods sounded like a hundred men coming at her. "Stop it, Kate." She said aloud, scolding herself for being so silly. But when it all came down to it, her mature pretenses had fallen victim to fear... and chances were she wouldn't get them back until morning.
And then there was a sound, a sharp crack in the night. Kate stared into the distance, wondering if she ought to go near it, or not. With the crack came a soft glow of light... a fire, perhaps? It sounded like someone was cooking... or at least settling down for the night. Though it seemed illogical for her to go towards an unknown person, Kate was at a this-or-die point. She knew she couldn't continue on alone, and she also knew she wanted to know why people were chasing her family. Perhaps this person had answers... and if they didn't, she would run the other way.
She didn't have a moment to peek over the camp when her foot landed on a branch which responded with a snap. It alerted the person behind the brush, who immediately told Kate to come out. She hesitated for a moment, gnawing her lower lip, and then approached the fireside. Her eyes locked on the girl there, and though there was not immediate comfort, she was happy to find a female. Her eyes surveyed the site, landing wistfully on the rabbit, and then back to the girl.
Kate wrung her hands together, twisting them. The evidence of her plight was obvious, from the tear tracks on her dirtied face to the mud around her legs and knees, and though her body looked somewhat pathetic, her eyes still had a spirit in them. It took a moment for Kate to speak, remembering her manners. She had never felt fear from a girl before, not one as young as this. She looked pretty, which Kate took as kind, and better yet, she had food. The girl's stomach unwittingly growled, and she was forced to stifle a rather unhappy laugh. "I'm sorry... I didn't mean to intrude." Kate said shyly, her eyes shifting from the rabbit on the spit to the girl before her. "You wouldn't... by chance... know where this is, do you?" She asked, trying to keep her unhappiness to a minimum as she spoke.
You cannot run and you cannot hide Yeah, you gotta face it, baby Things go bump in the night
ooc// Hurrah! Kate muse! Never fear, she'll be a little less pathetic as she stops panicking. :] Whenever you get back on, I have to do some more plot-talking to you. ^^

i come at night, to kill the light And then out came a girl. Yasmin's eyes widened slightly in shock. Was this what she had been so alert about? A young little girl, that looked like she could barely defend herself? Eyes swiftly scanned over the girl as she approached Yasmin. Dirtied by mud and cold from the snow, the girl could be summed up in one small word: lost. Either she was one very lost child or a forlorn child. The dress the girl wore though looked expensive, besides the fact that most parts of it were covered in mud and others were a bit torn.
She looked neat, despite the dirt covered on her pure skin. Any girl wearing such a dress simply had to come from a rich family. A small smile tugged at the corner of her lips. A noise could be heard from the girls stomach, Yasmin noted how her eyes seemed to flicker to the rabbit every now and then, before the girl chuckled rather miserably and started talking... much to Yasmin's surprise. Obviously the girl wasn't too shy, otherwise she would have remained silent. "Archenland's Woods, " Yasmin casually replied.
Yasmin turned from the girl once more, wanting to head back to the fire before extending a hand, waiting for the girl to catch up and take it. "Come," the siren beckoned, looking back, bright smile gracing her features as she waited for the girl to come and hold on to her hand. Next she headed for the fire once more, eyes running over the rabbit. Almost, just a little bit more and it'd be perfect to eat. Surely, the girl would not be able to resist staying until the rabbit was finished, right?
"It's almost finished," Yasmin mentioned before seating herself, breaking contact with the girl. She shivered lightly as she sat down upon the cold and icy snow. The snow couldn't get her sick though, Yasmin was siren after all... She was an animal, a creature, even if she rarely ever looked like one. Looking back at the girl, Yasmin patted her lap slightly, obviously motioning for the girl to come sit down on her lap. "So you won't get sick," Yasmin explained, as her eyes sparkled and her lips still wore that charming smile.
Besides, the best way to get the girl a little warmer was body heat of course. It was the most effective, and the quickest, way to get some color back on the young girl's cheeks. Add in the heat of the modest fire Yasmin had started and that of the warm fur Yasmin could wrap around the both of them, if the girl accepted Yasmin's offer, and in no time the girl would feel a little warmer, so Yasmin was convinced. Looking back at the fire, Yasmin smiled, rather pleased.
"I think it is finished," she nodded finally, leaning over just a bit to get the rabbit off the spit and looking back at the girl.
"Don't be afraid now,..." Yasmin warned as she held one of her fingers up in the light the fire was giving off. At her own silent command, her nail changed into claw and her finger too started to grow more into part of a bird's paws. Somehow Yasmin felt it'd be best to play fair with the girl on the part of what she was. After all, if the girl would note the few stripes on her hands or on her feet, Yasmin was convinced this was the kind of girl that'd question them anyways.
"A leg or part of the body, dear?" Yasmin asked the girl.

K A T E ;;Archenland's Woods... she was still in Archenland. Kate wasn't sure whether she was relieved or horrified that a day's worth of traveling had resulted in her getting no where. But she must be close to some border... she had been told to get out of Archenland, and that was what she intended to do. Her eyes seemed to sink, but when Yasmin spoke again they turned to her with curiosity and interest.
Perhaps it was because she was feeling alone, or because she didn't feel that Yasmin posed any threat to her. It was also that she had just lost everyone she called beloved, and had no idea why. Whatever reason resounded the most in Katherine's heart lead her to reach out and take Yasmin's hand. It was warm compared to her icy skin, and comforting. Kate was reminded of being with her mother, and yet another bond of trust grew, for she was not a naturally suspicious child.
Then the contact broke, and Kate found herself groping for a hand. She forced herself to lower her arm and stand near the fire, her eyes watching the flames. Kate took that moment to examine herself, to wince as she realized how revolting she looked compared to the girl that was beside her. Her cheeks seemed to flush pink, but it was barely noticeable in the night. She let her eyes go back to the rabbit, trying not to let them fall on the young woman beside her. The scent was heavenly, and perhaps even more so because of her hunger pains.
Then the girl spoke again, placing a hand on her lap and smiling beautiful up at Kate. For a moment she was tempted to rush back over and feel as if it were her mother, but her eyes dropped to her dress again, and she shook her head. "You'll be filthy." She said reluctantly. Of course, this didn't stop her from moving towards Yasmin and settling near to her... being with another human being was entrancing for the lost little girl.
She watched, starry-eyed, as Yasmin started to work on the rabbit. The change in her shape did startle her, but once it went from a claw to the paw of a bird, she seemed interested. "I've read of such things before... and a leg please" Katherine said, suddenly keen on proving her knowledge to the one beside her. She hated being thought of as a silly girl, and looking the way she did, she wouldn't blame Yasmin for thinking that with each passing second. Unable to stop herself, she reached forward, brushing a single finger along Yasmin's hands, and then withdrew. Once more her cheeks burst into flame, but she seemed a bit more content. "Sorry..."
Katherine watched as Yasmin worked on the rabbit, and then she frowned, as if something were bothering her. Staring at the rabbit as it spun round, she then gazed around her for the missing substance. "But... what will we eat it with?" She asked, her gentility and status getting the better of her. Katherine had never been in a situation without any sort of cutlery, so she seemed bemused.
She tucked her legs closely underneath her in the snow, though the ice bit at her uncovered flesh. Eyes went back to Yasmin, and she smiled. "My name is Katherine... Kate if you like." She said, and it was the twelve year old's way of offering her friendship. "Are you on the run as well?" She asked, and her face fell a little bit. If Yasmin was... she might inquire as to what they were running from. It was horrid to leave one's family, and not know why.
XD my entire roleplay post is 666 words. Kate is the devil.

i come at night, to kill the light "You'll be filthy."
Once more, Yasmin looked up at the girl, this time bemusement spread across her tanned features. Why would such a young girl mind about making someone else filthy. Yasmin had been filthy for many years of her life, back in the days when she lived with her mother and the tribe. All she had cared about back then was spreading her wings conquer the air with little tricks she was taught by the other fledglings. Yasmin was extremely glad though that the girl didn't completely refuse her offer, instead settling on sitting rather close to Yasmin.
"You're smart, most girls your age have never even heard of sirens. We're an old race, perhaps one day... I'll show you my wings. They're black as the night, did you know?" Yasmin smiled, trying to make conversation. However, what the girl had just said proved Yasmin's earlier guess had been right. The girl had been taught more than a thing or two, for it wasn't just obvious to know what sirens were. Yasmin merely smiled brightly as the girl sought out contact once more. It didn't really come as a surprise to Yasmin.
Yasmin rose a brow at the girl. Now there was no doubt left: this girl came from a rich background, even middle class rarely ate with too much cutlery and were used to the occasional handwork. "Our hands," Yasmin said as she let her free hand rise a little, proving her statement by doing so. After all, Yasmin couldn't possibly travel all around with cutlery, now could she? That'd be silly and illogical and irrational.
"Here you go," Yasmin smiled as she offered the girl one of the legs before taking a leg herself.
"I'm Yasmin, Yasmin Mochrie... I don't really care what people call me, so nickname away," Yasmin chuckled softly, before smiling. She knew fully well how people, and especially children, liked to give others nicknames. Most of the times because felt affection for the other or because the other's name was hard to remember. Yasmin was a rather difficult name to pronounce, despite the fact it looked so simple. Like the herb, not like people said 'jasmine' but with a silent 'y' and not very much 'asmin' either. Yasmin brushed her inner discussion about her name off though, deciding to eat and taking a large bite out of the leg.
The flesh was good, just like how she had wanted it. However, that didn't particularly mean that other people liked it as well, hence why Yasmin stared back at the girl, trying to figure out just what Kate thought about her cooking. Curiously her eyes remained settled on her. "Is it any good?" Yasmin wondered out loud. She realized she was simply being foolish though, after all, what young girl that had most likely not eaten for hours would not like just about anything offered to her? Yasmin's expression saddened at Kate's question.
"I am on the run as well,... I used to be the Royal Healer, but now that the White Witch has taken over Narnia it is dangerous to be linked to anything to do with Cair Paravel or the Royalty that once lived there. How about yourself, Kate? How did you end up like this, I can tell you come from good off-spring..."
And that's where the lying started. If anything, Yasmin wasn't on the run, she was hunting... for any people left that still supported the Pevensies or any royalty she may find. After all, there were still two former Queens on the run... much to Yasmin's dismay. Her lying was smooth and sounded like her little earnest self, but then again, she had been lying for most of her life... so it wasn't much of a surprise she had become a professional at it by now.

K A T E ;; You're smart, most girls your age have never even heard of sirens. We're an old race, perhaps one day... I'll show you my wings. They're black as the night, did you know. Kate quite clearly brightened, for being called smart or being praised in anyway was what she adored. Her family rarely commented on her traits, solely not to boost her ego, but having a stranger do it enthralled her. Determined to keep going, she said "I have excellent tutors. I would love to see your wings! I always imagined they would be gray, or a softer color." Kate said, but that didn't bother her. Yasmin had become something of a tutor in her eyes, someone to learn from. She cocked her head to the side, resting an elbow on her knees and her head on that hand.
Her nose wrinkled as she watched Yasmin eat with her hands, but Kate, having wanted to be an ambassador for Archenland as a child, knew better then to act revolted. She mimicked her host, and found it to be rather enjoyable. Her hands were filthy the moment she picked up the leg, but Kate seemed to like being able to play with her food. She chewed the rabbit slowly, savoring it, and then dove in. She was too hungry not to.
"It's wonderful." Katherine said, for two reasons. First, any food would have tasted heavenly to a lost child, and second, she was being proper and polite now to her host. Though Kate had never been partial to rabbit, she didn't intend to let Yasmin know that. She finished the leg rather quickly, and held on to the rest of it, unsure of what to do with the remains.
I am on the run as well,... I used to be the Royal Healer, but now that the White Witch has taken over Narnia it is dangerous to be linked to anything to do with Cair Paravel or the Royalty that once lived there. How about yourself, Kate? How did you end up like this, I can tell you come from good off-spring... Kate watched Yasmin as she ate, contemplating this. She had heard of the witch of course, every educated child had. But to imagine her back... Kate had merely thought those were rumors. She tucked her legs closer towards her body.
"I... I don't really know. My father, he is an Earl here... I would imagine it has something to do with that. My cousin appointed him so, and if the Witch is after Archenland, I suppose she may come after my father." The thought chilled her, and she shivered a bit before continuing. "I hope Raoul is all right..." After all, if the Witch were after mere Earls now, she must have already had the King. Her throat seemed to close, and Katherine tried to stifle back her fear and misery, but it was too late.
"They're fine... aren't they?" Kate said suddenly, and her voice sounded thick with worry for her missing comrades. She suddenly wished she had never left home, had never entered this stupid wood. Her fingers had unknowingly clenched tight around the remains of the rabbit, and she stared longingly into the fire.

i come at night, to kill the light Excellent tutors, huh? Well wasn't she one lucky birdie.
"Well, ..." now how was she going to try and explain this?
"Look at... our hair for example, it differs, right? Just like with human beings, sirens differ in their appearance as well. I have seen many wings, some white, others brown, some gray and hey, I've even seen some red ones out there," Yasmin smiled back at the girl, for once in a lifetime a smile that was partially genuinely given to the girl.
"I could tell you many things, I've seen lots whilst traveling with my kind, but lets keep something for later, I can't give away my mystery all at once, right?" Yasmin chuckled, trying to lighten up the girl's mood a bit... in quite the dorky way but Yasmin seriously hoped it'd at least get a smile out of Kate. And finally, Yasmin took the last few bites from the leg, before throwing the little bone away, having noticed how Kate was completely clueless on where to go with the bone. Yasmin was quite convinced she'd be smart enough to just follow Yasmin's lead.
"Want some more, I bet you must be starving still," Yasmin offered some more rabbit. Yasmin happily listened to Kate talking. The more information she could get, the better it could end for her. However, that was until she heard the very name 'raoul' being spoken and connected to 'cousin'. Yasmin basically chocked on her very own breath.
"I'm sorry but - King Raoul of Archenland?" Yasmin questioned, after having apologized for her near-death-choking experience.
"They're fine... aren't they?"
Yasmin frowned. It was a question she didn't exactly want to answer for some odd reason. Despite being member of the the Queen's Royal Police, she had little to no idea if Kate's family had ever been captured or anything else of the sort, in the worst case, dead. And so, Yasmin couldn't help, but continue her little lying-spree.
"I bet they are just fine, hoping you are fine and awaiting the day they can come find you again," Yasmin answered. She was at a loss of words though, and a strange need to get the conversation going again overwhelmed the young woman. Or was it a strange need to bring back a smile upon the girl's face? Hmm, who could tell? Getting off the piece of fur she wore, Yasmin placed it on the girl's lap.
"Get yourself warm, dear," Yasmin smiled. The clothes she wore though, had her back bare... as she intended it to be. Two long stripes ran down her back, and in no time out popped those wings. Fluently, yet bit by bit at the same time, the two wings colored the color of a clear black sky came out of their hiding. Soft feathers, well taken care of, spread and showed.
"Go ahead, touch them..." Yasmin offered, turning her back to the girl. Yasmin was quite sure that curious little Kate had to be dying to do so... it surely wasn't the first time she got to see the wings of a siren just like that,... right? And though Kate might not have known, Yasmin was offering Kate a huge part of her privacy right there at that very moment. Her wings were vulnerable and a part she held dear... like any healthy siren did.
Touching it, especially a human being, was out of the question most times. And here Yasmin had gone, surprising even herself, by offering a little girl who she had barely met to touch her most prized possessions. How much more crazy could the world get?

K A T E ;; Kate peeked at her hair curiously, trying to remember what her tutor had said about sirens. Wergave said though they bordered on being bad, he had known some neutral and some good. In Kate's mind, Yasmin was certainly good. She had taken her in, fed her, talked to her like an adult... no one who acted like Yasmin did could be bad. And she had worked in Cair Paravel for the Kings and Queens. "I wish my tutor could meet you..." She said sleepily, observing her fair companion.
Kate mimicked her movements, tossing the bone to the side, and did reward her with a little grin. "Mystery... but if you don't tell me now, when will I hear the stories?" It was a sly, and somewhat obvious, way of asking what Yasmin was doing after the night was done. Kate had already decided she wanted to go with the girl, not trusting herself to live alone and starve, but she was much to proud to ask her flat out. She took another small piece, finishing it as quickly as she had taken it. Belly full, she stretched herself out like a contented cat.
Yasmin sputtered on the name Raoul, and Kate blushed. She was never one for name dropping, but once that fateful name was said, it seemed as if everyone knew whom she was talking about. "Yes... King... I suppose. But he's just Raoul to me." She said with a beam, unwittingly showing off the strength of her bond with the King. "And I'm just Kate to him." She smiled again, but her lips seemed to tremble.
Yasmin reassured her they were probably all right, and Kate repeated it, to embed it in her memory. "They're probably just waiting to come and find me." Her smile this time did not waver in the least. It glowed. As the fur crossed her knees, she frowned at it. "I don't want to take your fur... we'll share it." She said reasonably, as if it had been her idea all along. She scooted closer to Yasmin, enjoying her body heat, and draped the fur over both of them.
It was then that Yasmin unveiled her wings to her. Kate was secretly delighted, and it was obvious in her face, but she tried desperately to keep her tone nonchallant. Her hands reached out, quivering, and then became more and more steady. She stroked the feathers slowly in the right direction, and then did it again. "They're beautiful.." She said, awe in her voice, even if she was trying to surpress it. "You're so lucky Yasmin. I would love to fly!" Actually, she wasn't sure how she would deal with heights... but if you were born with wings to use... it seemed like fun.
She picked off a small bit of dirt that had landed on them, and then stroked them again with a contented sigh. "They're as soft as fur!" She said, one hand on the fur she had been given, and the other on the feathers. She withdrew her arm wistfully. "I really wish my tutor could meet you now." Kate gave her a look of envy.. and of satisfaction. "I'm glad we met, Yasmin."

i come at night, to kill the light Had Yasmin know Kate thought of her as good, she would have laughed right in the girl's face. Yasmin knew all too well sirens didn't care about good or bad, ... Had Yasmin been a full siren herself she wouldn't even have joined either side herself. Though sirens could look like a human being, they weren't. Sirens were animals, quite as vile and cruel and heartless like beasts. The only thing that made them different from just about any animal was their sense of logic. Their 'human' brain as one could put it.
Yasmin chuckled as Kate said something about wishing her tutor had been there to see Yasmin. With wonder, the siren stared back at the fire. What would have happened if Yasmin had found this girl with her tutor instead of Kate all by herself? She'd have fooled them, questioned them and then... Argh she couldn't tell. Yasmin honestly didn't know what she would have done. But she certainly wouldn't have reacted like she had earlier.
"Mystery... but if you don't tell me now, when will I hear the stories?"
"Hmmm, that's a good question. I'll be heading to Narnia from here, I'm headed to a little place just outside of Narnia,..." Yasmin said, not particularly lying. Just not mentioning she was headed to Carnadine. ... She started thinking though. Kate was a cousin of Raoul, on the run, and Yasmin knew all too well the vital information the girl could possess over the former King of Narnia.
"You're welcome to come with me, Kate," Yasmin pretended to offer, intending the girl to follow her to Carnadine. After all, Yasmin would have done an excellent job catching King Raoul's very own precious cousin. Yasmin smiled though, shaken from her thoughts once more as the young girl said they'd share the fur.
And as Yasmin could feel the little hands upon her wings, she couldn't help but giggle slightly in delight. Had she been a cat she would have purred. And indeed, as a matter of fact, she couldn't help but hum in small delight as Kate stroked her feathers. Perhaps this proved her to be an animal after all. It was a confusing feeling that welled up in her, one of confusion and slight anger because she had made herself feel like some ordinary pet by humming. Yet there was a feeling of inner satisfaction as well, Yasmin quite enjoyed the strokes her wings received.
"You're so lucky Yasmin. I would love to fly!"
"It's amazing, ..." Yasmin confirmed the girl's statement. Flying was simply amazing. Perhaps the one thing Yasmin enjoyed most of all, even above hearing the screams of her victims. She loved the feeling of pure freedom, of ruling the sky like no other. One couldn't truly know the sky unless one had flown high up, dived at full speed and simply having enjoyed the breeze against their feathers. As the girl withdrew her hands though, Yasmin folded her wings back where they were safe from any harm.
They remained, after all, a soft spot of hers.
"I am glad to have met you as well," Yasmin smiled. And she couldn't exactly tell if she was lying or telling the truth. Perhaps neither of the two, if that was even possible? It sure felt like it. Yasmin smiled nonetheless though, allowing herself to be quiet for a while. Looking back at the girl, Yasmin smiled, scooting closer to her once more and drawing the fur over the both of them, it had been needed to removed from Yasmin once more when she had shown her wings.
Yasmin drew an arm around the girl, hugging her even closer to herself as they were nearly hidden underneath the fur.
"You must be tired, why don't you try to sleep some?" Yasmin offered. They could keep each other warm, well, more like Yasmin could keep Kate warm. After all, Yasmin didn't have too much trouble spending her night in the cold once in a while.
"If you'll come with me tomorrow... I know a small town where we could stop, it's a day's worth journey but there's a small tavern... I have some money left, we could stay there for the night and get you cleaned up, get rid of all that dirty mud... And get you some decent clothes to travel with..." Yasmin purred, her voice warm and gentle.

K A T E ;; If Kate had been just a little older, and certainly more suspicious, she would have at least considered the danger she might be putting herself in. But not only was Kate young and somewhat naive, she also fiercely protected those she liked.. and couldn't see them doing any wrong. Yamsin happened to fall under that category, not only because she had been compassionate and offered food, but because she had become a teacher to Kate. The child could only imagine what Yasmin could tell her about the life of a siren, and those mysterious stories held a great deal of promise to her.
So it was not unexpected when Yasmin proposed they travel together, and Kate smiled and happily said "Yes please!" After all, she didn't want to be left alone in the woods, and at least Yasmin could lead her into Narnia... which was out of Archenland.
Yasmin's arm was... a bit uncomfortable for Kate at first, but she grew to like it, especially the warmth it provided. She was tired, but she also felt as though she ought to stay awake with Yasmin. The woods still weren't safe, even if she were utterly lost in them. People could still track her. Kate glanced around Yamsin's makeshift camp for any signs of movement, and then resettled her head against Yasmin.
I know a small town where we could stop, it's a day's worth journey but there's a small tavern... I have some money left, we could stay there for the night and get you cleaned up, get rid of all that dirty mud... And get you some decent clothes to travel with... If Kate hadn't been certain about traveling with Yasmin yet, she certainly was now. New clothes, clean hair and skin... it was as if the older girl was inside her head. "I don't know when I'll be able to pay you back." Kate said honestly, though she was used to being taken care of. "I suppose whenever I run back into Raoul or my parents..." Her voice had started to wander, and her eyes began to close.
She thought about the journey that lay ahead as she started to drift to sleep. Her parents had wanted her out of the country, and Narnia counted, even if it had it's own set of problems. She pondered this, and inquired "It will be safe for us in Narnia, right?" She had been there once or twice before with her tutor and her parents, but it had been peaceful then. If there truly was a witch running around... maybe Narnia wasn't the best idea. She cocked her head up at Yasmin. "Where are you heading to, anyway?"
Kate resettled her head back into Yasmin's side. She gave a yawn, and before Yasmin could even hope to respond, she was out like a light. The soft snores began only a moment later.
You're more then welcome to speed things up to the next day. :]

i come at night, to kill the light "You don't have to pay me back, honey," Yasmin replied to the girl's offer, glad she had somewhat felt the girl relax in her embrace. Kate's voice though had started to sound heavier, carrying a wish for sleep upon her tone and words.
"Of course it will be safe there, ..." Yasmin responded. If she could get Kate to wear something less formal than that dress, something more like that of a commoner's clothes, surely Kate would not attract lots of attention and they could travel safely, without question, to Carnadine where she could hand Kate in... After all, the girl had information on Raoul and family. Information that might just be needed, and in case Yasmin couldn't get it out of her before they arrived at Carnadine, still Kate was part of the royal family, hence needed to be locked away.
"Someplace safe for people on the run, people like us," Yasmin lied, half expecting the girl to respond. However, when no response whatsoever came, Yasmin glanced down, unable to see the girl's face. Curious what had happened to the girl, it wasn't until the snoring confirmed her suspicion. Kate had indeed fallen into a deep sleep. A small smile tugged at the corner of Yasmin's lips, before she placed her head gently upon Kate's to lean on, staring into the fire.
It was with little protest that Yasmin decided to stay up that night. Though she knew all too well she remained alert even when she slept, she couldn't risk anything hurting Kate. It'd be a loss of vital information... or so she kept telling herself. And so she remained, watching the dancing of the flames until finally they died for the rest of the night, waiting for the sun to slowly rise.
It was at the start of sunrise that Yasmin decided they'd best get going. Sighing, she got up slowly, carefully not to wake the young girl who was still peacefully asleep. Like the night before, Yasmin scanned the area ever so carefully, sighing as she came to the realization not any decent food was close... except for the left-overs of the night before. Yasmin easily restarted the fire with some newly found dry wood, placing the rabbit on top just to get it warmed up a bit again.
Swiftly, Yasmin made her way to the girl, shaking her softly to wake up.
"Kate... Kate... Wake up, honey... Katie," Yasmin urged, her hands softly shaking the girl awake... of course doing her up most best to be careful and not too rough a touch.
After a while, Yasmin turned back to the fire, taking off the warmed up rabbit and ending the fire by throwing ice on top of it.
"Here you go, I know it's not much, but you can pick some berries on the road," Yasmin offered the rest of the rabbit to Kate. Just as Yasmin could go on without a night of rest and peace, she could go on for a few days without any decent food. A small smile lingered on her features, as she waited for Kate to finish up.

K A T E ;; Kate didn't usually dream, but tonight she did. In her dream she was in a field with a small friend of hers, and though it was rare she was behaving like the child that she was. They were playing some sort of silly imaginary game that Kate didn't typically care for when her dream friend pointed out a blip on the field that hadn't been there before.
She had followed him to the dark circle in the meadow, but her heart was strongly against it. Something didn't feel right, and yet her friend was calling her... beckoning her. He was staring at it and smiling, so she came up to him. He had pointed at the image, which turned out to be a well, and said there was something in there. Kate remembered walking over to it, and peeking down... and her dream friend pushed her in. She fell to the bottom unhurt, but the dress she had been wearing turned to rags, and her hair was cut. She was screaming up at him, but he just looked down at laughed...
She woke up, breathless, with a small bead of sweat dripping down her temple. Kate's eyes went to Yasmin, and then around her, and she exhaled deeply, trying to soothe her shattered nerves. "It's just you..." She shook her head, feeling mildly embarrassed about the nightmare. She looked down at her hands, which stung, and realized there was a small cut on her left hand. Her eyes went to down what she had been grasping at in her last moments of sleep, and realized it was the forgotten satchel her parents had given her.
Kate looked up at Yasmin, and then at the satchel, and opened it up. There was a small dagger tucked away in a cloth, but somehow during Kate's nightmare it had become untucked and cut through the satchel. She stared at it rather unbelievingly at first, and then began to process what it meant. If her parents had given her a knife... it meant things were much worse then even she had thought. She mended her bag as best as she could, and pulled herself up from the ground. Kate shook out Yasmin's fur as she tended to the rabbit.
"It'll be fine." She said to Yasmin, nibbling at the rabbit, though she seemed distracted. "I don't eat very much in the morning anyway." Though this was true, she finished the leftovers rather quickly, and handed Yasmin her fur. Kate looked to the woods around them, hoping Yasmin knew which direction they were headed. "Are we off?" Kate asked, dusting herself off as best as she could. The mud remained on her dress overnight, which had certainly stained it permanently. Kate was looking forward to the new clothes Yasmin promised.

i come at night, to kill the light "Of course it's just me, dear... Who else did you expect?" Yasmin asked, concern written across her features yet her eyes glinting with sheer curiosity. Why had the girl been so ... edgy, for lack of a better word. She had seemed to be relieved to see Yasmin, and the siren couldn't help but wonder who she had expected to see. A nightmare perhaps? Yasmin wasn't entirely sure, since nightmares rarely plagued her being... it was the same for dreams. Yasmin soon was distracted though, as her eyes swept over the satchel Kate got out.
"That's one fine piece of work. Keep it close, you may never know when it comes in handy," Yasmin commented, before shifting her eyes away from the satchel. The sun was still setting yet the forest was deadly quiet. She hated it when things were quiet in a forest, or any kind of wood for that matter. Forests were supposed to be lively, like she remembered them to be. Yet not even the singing wake up call from a bird could be heard. How sad, honestly.
"Keep it, please," Yasmin smiled as Kate tried to give Yasmin back her fur. There was no way at all though, that Yasmin would be accepting the fur back for as long as Kate didn't have one of her own. As Kate seemed to be ready for the journey, Yasmin smiled, extending a hand just in case the girl felt like grabbing it before they set off to the little town Yasmin had talked about.
***
It had been indeed a day's worth of traveling, with the occasional stop to eat something, drink or a 'bathroom' stop. Much to her surprise though, Yasmin wasn't the least bit annoyed with her little companion. During their little walk of a day though, Yasmin had had plenty of time to think in between her conversations with Kate - which had proved to Yasmin that Kate was indeed no dumb little kid. And one of those things was how to make it all seem real.
Yasmin halted in her steps, at the end of the wood and a small bit away from a bridge that would lead the duo into the small yet usually pleasant town.
"Look Katie, we can't just barge in there unprepared, we're on the run after all," Yasmin said, bending through her knees to be on eye level with the girl as she held onto Kate's shoulders.
"I'm the Kings and Queen's royal healer and you're the cousin of Archenland's King, no doubt they'll be looking for us," Yasmin partially made up.
"We need some sort of alibi, ..."
"A child going somewhere with her nanny would be a bit too suspicious... How about you'll play my younger sister?" Yasmin reasoned.
"What would you like to name us?" Yasmin asked.

K A T E ;; Kate had the fur draped over her shoulders the entire way there. At first she was cheerful and talkative, but as the day went on, she did get a bit tired. Eventually she wound up picking berries as they went, or talking to Yasmin about her fear of horses, or her love of books. Her hatred of being dirty was gradually forgotten, and for the first time Kate didn't fret about her hair, or her appearance. She was enjoying the walk, enjoying Yasmin's company. Sometimes she was quiet, as though lost in thought, and other times she couldn't seem to stop talking. Talking about her family members gave her great comfort.
As the town drew near, Kate smiled. She was exhausted, but had pressed on. She had amazed herself, for young girls bred in noble families couldn't easily complete long walks in the woods in the bitter cold. She managed to go the whole way without once whimpering or complaining, and part of that was because of Yasmin's presence.
She exhaled deeply when Yasmin turned to her, and put a wavering smile on her face. That smiled faded when Yasmin suggested people might be looking for her. Her heart started to race. "Maybe... maybe we shouldn't go in there then..." Kate said hesitantly, looking at the town as though it would bite her.
But then she had the bright idea of having an alibi, and Kate smiled. She shifted the satchel over her shoulders, and nodded. "I think we could pull off being sisters." Kate said thoughtfully, examining Yasmin's features and reflecting on her own. The idea of an alibi rather excited the child, and already she had a million stories racing in her head. Their carriage had crashed in the woods, robbers had been chasing them... A faint grin played on her lips.
Then she was assigned what seemed like an all important task, and Kate took it seriously. She skimmed through her list of names, names that stuck out in her mind. "Abigail and..." She looked Yasmin up and down, trying to think of a suitable name for her companion, "Rosaline." Rosaline had been a character in a book that was somewhat popular for younger children in Archenland, and it fit Kate's idea of Yasmin to a T. The Rosaline was warm-hearted, a bit shy, but very compassionate and fiery when she needed to be.
It was then that Kate thoroughly took on her identity. This make believe game, started by an adult, was important and therefore amused the child who rarely played. She started to brush her fingers through her hair and dust her dress off as best as she could again. Then she looked back up to Yasmin, and her eyes were... different. Determined, perhaps, but there was the Abigail personality lurking underneath that Kate had started to portray.
"Come on, Rosaline." Abigail said eagerly, taking her companion's hand again and starting to drag her towards the town. Her eyes were bright and thoughtful, ready to take on the world that lay before them. Already she was looking for dress stores, but also admiring the cute little town. It wasn't at all like anything Kate had seen before, but Kate decided Abigail had grown up in a town like this, so she played her excitement passively. Had she been born in another time, she would have clearly made a marvelous little actress.

i come at night, to kill the light "I think we could pull off being sisters."
Yasmin smiled, everything was just going splendid, just the way she wanted it to. Her smile turned genuine though when Kate decided to give them the names 'Abigail' and 'Rosalynne'. Just as Kate did, Yasmin started to think of little stories. The difference between the stories was that Yasmin took several outside traits to base her stories off. The dress Kate might've been wearing, though dirty, did not match Yasmin's own, more gypsy, clothes. Yasmin frowned, just how were they going to pull off being sisters. A bit reluctantly, Yasmin started to undo the stripes of cloth from her hair.
Next she took a bit of dirt from the ground and rubbed it over her clothes, not quite caring nearly as much as she had about taking her lovely hair-decorations off. If they were going to have any story of sorts, the least they could do was reflect the other a bit so no one could tell they were very different beings. A bit more strategic though was the dirt Yasmin rubbed on the green lines on her hands and feet, after all... if Abigail was a human being, it would only make sense that Rosaline was one as well. Yasmin was quite certain that her long locks could hide the green lines on her back, even if it was with a bit of regret that she hid her true being.
"Just so we match," Yasmin told Kate, even if she used to assure herself that what she was doing was alright and not a shame to her race. Yasmin's worries were blown from her mind though as Kate's little hand eagerly dragged the siren forward, heading to the little town. Yasmin - ... or was it Rosaline now? - followed suit, and as they crossed the bridge, Rosaline smiled, her eyes glancing over the town. Though it still had the same cheerful atmosphere from before, Yasmin could tell it was a bit more dimmed... something she did not mind at all.
"That's where we'll be spending the night, Abigail," Rosaline motioned, nodding in the direction of a small tavern across the street named 'The Happy Ox'. First though, the pair of sisters had to find new clothes. After all, they had to find some style that suited the both of them and that made them resemble a little, for Yasmin couldn't continue walking around in her kind of clothes whilst Kate ran around in a chic dress, even if it was hidden under layers of dirt. Her eyes lit up as she saw a small store, still open and selling, instantly, she crossed the street and headed for the store, dragging Abigail in.
As Rosaline entered the place, hand holding onto her sister's for dear life, she looked at the shop owner, an old little lady, in a bit of bewilderment.
"Are you still open Miss? My little sister here, and myself need some new clothes," Rosaline explained.
"Sure thing, dear, look around the place and call me when you need me."
Rosaline smiled, before turning to her fake sister.
"Anything you like, Abby?" Rosaline asked.
