The harbor is deserted as you walk past. The sky is overcast and gray; you guess that it will begin to downpour within the hour. Yet, as you gaze out in wonderment, the ocean seems calm. The waves pull in and out with a dependable consistancy, the sound of it presenting a dreamlike affect on you.
As you stride past the many boats and ships, you come to an abrupt stop. You can just barely see, at the far edge of a particularly old, wooden peir, a figure. It's gray pelt makes it nearly invisible against the monochrome sky. Curious, you step out onto the rotting wood planks.
Even the sound of your approaching footsteps on the creaking platform does not disturb the figure. You pause just a few feet away. The lupine, you now distinguish, lays unmoving at the extreme edge of the peir. One of its paws is being dipped carelessly into the water below. It's expression is pensive and melancholy as it gazes at the rippling waters.
You clear your throat softly and say to him, "... Hello.. Why are you out here all alone?" The lupe's ears perk at your voice. His paw is pulled out of the water and he turns his head to face you. "Oh, hello.." he replies hesitantly. His kind and gentle facial features portray an expression of mixed relief and sorrow.
I don't know.

The lupine walked quietly through the woods, a smile along his muzzle. His slate fur glistened in the patchy light of the forest as his paws trotted along the path. Aster could tell through the naked patches between the trees it was going to rain, and soon.
His navy and white spotted ears perked, his eyes looking for the source of the terrified cry. He quickened pace, his nostrils twitching as the pup's scent came to him.
The incedent was a scandal. Had Aster not been as fast as he was, the pup would not have made it. But the burning tree crashed to the ground, crushing the lupine beneath it. His body lay motionless, the smell of burning fur never to reach the stiff nose. The eyes, the beautiful gold eyes not seeing the world a his life drew to a close.
A sudden spinning came as the wolf opened his opaque gold eyes. No pupils nor whites where visible in hsi eyes, just the gold abyss. The voice spoke, great and powerful. "Aster, that was a noble thing for you to do, giving your life for another.." Aster couldn't reply. His muzzle seemed to be clamped shut with invisible ropes, unbreakble and strong. "...Good luck Aster"
Then just as the spinnign had stopped, it began again. He felt as iff the earth beneath him had been pulled from under his paws, sending him crshing to the ground, still unmoving.
The two legged race known as man rushed by, the rain pouring down onto the roads, the automobiles thundering down the road as the two legged rushed off to work. The lupine layed in the rain glazed grass, barley concius.
An old woman walked along the busy rainging street, a basket grasped firmly in her arms. hazel green eyes looked towards the sky, only seeing the bitter rain fallin from the sorrow filled clouds.
