This is just rediculous. America, the rest of the world; what are we DOING? People are just bloody idiots. I mean, is it honestly that difficult to pick up your bloody plastic and recycle it? Or just THROW IT AWAY. What the hell? Are we honestly in that bad of shape where we can't get off our asses and pick stuff up? Jesus Christ. (I don't think I've EVER introduced ANY of you to my tree hugger side, but here I go. Please bear with me, apparently no one freaking understands why this is so important.) The state of affairs we find ourselves in is absolutely ludacris.
Have any of you bothered to read anything from national geographic or discovery? Well guess what, folks. For every one mile of beach, probably around 46,000 pieces of plastic. Fourty-six THOUSAND. That's not even counting all the other shit people leave on the beach. Cigarette ends? Simply tossed in the sand where people can't dragged their sorry asses to a trash can. It's INSANE. Oh, read this: www.financialpost.com/Avertible%20catastrophe/3203808/story.html
I am absolutely APPALLED. This is beyond belief. Are we too arrogant to accept help? Or is it just a matter of wits? Why can't the Dutch bring their ships? If this is some matter of fucking pride, we as Americans are blithering idiots. Its like Miss Poppy said. It's tough to tell who cares least about the Gulf, the Feds or BP. Its ver astonishing to me. I mean, what the hell?
First of all, why wasn't America fucking prepared if their back up plan failed to follow through? It obviously DIDN'T WORK, so are we just content with sitting idle by while ecosystem upon ecosystem are being destroyed? I'm terribly ashamed to say that one of state senators supports BP. I was angered at first, but now I'm simply enraged. These affairs should not be as bad as they are. Unbelievable.
Furthermore, BP will not allow people to help unless they're wearing a suit of some sort and taking a class, which they are REFUSING TO OFFER TO PEOPLE!! THERE ARE PLENTY OF PEOPLE WILLING TO HELP! Yet BP sits there and refuses to allow people the right to help. How are things supposed to get better if people aren't allowed to work to help this cause? I myself would leap at the chance to help. If it was offered, I'd go in a heart beat. There would be no skirting around it, being skittish about my answer.
And um, hello? I realize they may or may not have Kevin Cosner's other machines working yet, but why not go ahead and work with the one they have? Oil continues to leak out. Marine birds, fish, marine mammals; anything you could even dare to imagine living in this area are being affected. Defenseless creatures are DYING because of this nonsense. Dolphins are trapped in that oil, swimming around becasue guess what? There is no where to go! They can't escape! We have been blessed with this gorgeous planet and yet we continue to plague it with man made disasters such as this.
As you can tell, I do not take this subject lightly. I've jumped at the throats of the people who say they couldn't give a shit, cried at the sightins on the news of animals coated in oil who are more than likely going to die. It's not a joke. America needs to pull it together. What happens when a hurricane/tropical storm comes and it starts blowing this shit up to the coasts like mine, in NC? Like Sophia Bush says: "It's time to make some noise. We all have to scream and yell and stomp our feet. Someone will listen."
